Silent Cry of Joy

I have been looking at this particular image for over 20 minutes now. I love it. I enjoy studying flowers and those are what helped me find interest in drawing & painting when I was starting my art education. This image brought all of those memories back for me. So I believe your title is perfectly chosen; not only for your own reasons, but for mine as well.

Two of the great things about this deviant that I enjoy are the variety and the richness of the color tones you've captured. This shot beautifully showcases some of the warm spring hues of watermelon & cotton candy pink as well as mild sepia, olive, soft ivories and some sparkling white.

The composition of this image is very appealing because the focus is split among two overall details for me: The in-focus petal edge and the color washes behind-- results of clever usage of depth of field.

The undulating line formed by the petal found in the immediate forefront is powerful because of the diagonal nature of it. It engages the mind and keeps its attention because of the flowing rhythm and varying “weight”.

Then, there is that impressive color! This image would yield a stunning palette of color swatches. I find that while I enjoy studying the flower itself, I can't help myself but to just sit back and appreciate the color. It's somewhat of a battle for me on this image as I get pulled between those two, but that's what is so pleasant about it.

Overall, I would say that it is the color that takes 1st place for me on this. It's so very striking and it brings back warm memories of my family and our tulip garden back home in the Southern Unites States.

As I understand it, I am suppose to provide some constructive feedback. If there is anything to mention, then it would be to see if any tightening of this shot through cropping can increase the immediate pull of this image. I like it the way it is because I want to enjoy the whole of it and wouldn't want to lose any of that amazing color, but it may be a bit more engaging if it was in a more landscape (wide) format.
